Friend got me a bartending job, but I'm not so sure what I'm doing.. Don't want to look stupid, help!?
So my friend got me a job at the pub that she works at, as a bartender because that was the only position available & I really need a job now Anyway I have been a waitress for the better part of about 2yrs now, and I have done a few bar shifts at various restaurants when people would call in sick,etc .But I cant say I am 100% comfortable behind the bar. Making cocktails right now is a challenge for me and I'm not as quick as the other bartenders to be expected . My friend helped me out a lot by getting me this job, it's at a really busy, cool spot.I'm happy to have it and I know I'll get better at the job in time, I guess I just need to be more confident. What basic things should I know, so that my new managers and co workers as well as customers won't think I'm a complete airhead behind the bar? Is it more about attitude or speed? Because I'm a great " people person" ... Just can't make a martini in 10sec Sometimes the bar gets cazy busy too so I need to learn & learn quick.. Is it hard to pick up? Thanks a lot
Is bartending good side job? Please read?
I recently graduated from acting school and I am ready to pursue my career. As most people know, before actors get their break, we need to have a side job to keep a roof over our heads and pay for our careers. Is bartending a good choice? Not to sound cocky but I am really pretty and I have great people skills and just finished Bartending School. In NY legal age for bartending is 18, while in LA its 21 so I am staying in NY for a year. How much do bartenders maker per night on average?4 minutes ago 4 days left to answer.

Whats the best way to get into bartending?
i've been talking to some people and they all think i would be really good as a bartender i'm cute, love talking to people, i'm a flirt, and i work well in fast paced areas. the issue i don't drink, and i don't really know much about alcohol and stuff. so i was thinking bartending school? but someone else told me that is a joke. any ideas on what i could do to maybe get started to get into it? i already work at a restaurant, so at least i have my foot in the door to maybe become a bartender there at some point. i'm 20 years old, so i still have some time.

Day shift Bartending in NYC Restaurant?
I wanted to know what is the average tips for a Bartender that works the day shift at a restaurant in Manhattan? I got my first bartending job and I will be given the day shift until I prove ready for the night shift which is when the restaurant is busy. I want to ask the current bartender but I don't want to make the wrong impression and seem like I am all about the money even though its necessary to live . Anyone who has done daytime bartending I would love your response. Thank you.
